On Sunday July 1st, a crowd of 900 people passed through the doors of Co-Ground for our Brews, Blues & BBQ's event to celebrate the release of our winter seasonal Stone Beer and raise money through gold coin donations and drink sales for the good people at Co-Ground, a Melbourne based not-for-profit global community...It was a day of blues music, American-style barbeque and, of course, good beer.
The crisp afternoon kicked off with winter beers, bloody mary's and mulled cider. On the taps, we poured our 2017 Vintage Barrel Aged Stone Beer and this year’s delicious dark drop Stone Beer 18’ alongside the classic Pacific Ale and crowd-pleasing Cloud Catcher Australian Pale Ale.
Mouth-watering BBQ smells filled the air and slow cooked and smoked meat filled stomachs as local pit masters Bluebonnet BBQ had the smoker on site serving up smoked brisket, Berkshire pork buns, and field-mushroom burgers for the veggo’s.
Live music by DJ Relaxative (Nick Cooper), Jess Parker and the Troubled Waters, Skyscraper Stan and the Commission Flats had event-goers moving their feet and enjoying the good vibes...
We're stoked to announce that the fundraiser collected over $3k through Stone & Wood and Brookie's Gin sales as well as gold coins donated at the door. This will help fund Co-Grounds work in the Asia-Pacific to drive grassroots community development through social enterprise @cogroundcoffee, events and volunteer opportunities. The not for profit works with eight villages in remote Vanuatu to deliver education and livelihood projects including literacy and education accessibility. Co-Ground fuels opportunities for local artists, including Ground Studios, the @BrunswickArtistMarket and the secondhand economy through the @BrunswickFleaMarket.
Thanks to everyone who came, volunteered and a huge thanks to our partners Brookie's Gin, Bluebonnet Barbecue, Granite Belt Cider Company and of course Co-Ground for hosting the event at their venue.
