As the first-ever event inside the new space, Festival of the Stone 2019 will take over new brewery in Byron Bay on Saturday 8 June from 3.00pm – 10.00pm, with live bands, food trucks and fresh beer.

And for our biggest Festival of the Stone to date, Alex Lahey will be bringing her pop-punk energy to the stage, alongside artist-producer Alice Ivy and soul singer Lisa Hunt – an awesome ticket of female headliners.

Festival of the Stone also celebrates the release of our limited seasonal Stone Beer – a wood-fired stout brewed with hot stones in homage to our brewing ancestors. It's a festival for sharing, a time for coming together as a community around a centuries-old favourite: beer.

Music

Melbourne-based songwriter Alex Lahey played an epic gig at last year’s Splendour in the Grass following her triple j Unearthed success, while her album I Love You Like A Brother landed on several ‘albums of the year’ lists around the country. Energetic, super fun and with a new album, The Best of Luck Club, under her belt, we’re stoked to welcome Alex to Festival of the Stone!

With her ethereal voice and funky neo-jazz electronica, artist and producer Alice Ivy has supported major international acts including Foster the People, Billie Eilish and Flight Facilities, and has performed at our favourite festivals around the country, including Splendour in the Grass and Falls Festival. Her dreamy tracks will set the ultimate backdrop to a starry festival night.

Local favourite soul queen Lisa Hunt – who’s worked with the likes of Ray Charles, Eric Clapton, Tina Arena and Macy Gray – will also light up the stage with her soaring vocals and funk and soul tracks. Once a closing act for Byron Bay Bluesfest, Lisa makes light work of pulling people onto the floor.

Also on the line-up is the 28-man ‘Russian’ choir from Mullumbimby, Dustyesky, who came together as a group with a love of vodka and Russian folk music, and later became a national Russian news story. Meanwhile, there’ll be rock n’ roll for the young ones with the head-banging Bunny Racket.

As for the live DJs, we're excited to have vinyl sets by Vinyl Richie and Reif, plus a set from Club Raider DJs and Friends.

Food

Besides the music, we’ll have beer pouring from our beer truck Clyde and Troopie Trevor and food trucks Gunter’s Flammkuchen, Pocket Curries, Spice Pirate BBQ and Zicatela serving up delicious meals. Inside, the Stone & Wood Canteen run by 100 Mile Table will have pork bao buns, chicken banh mi and fried potatoes Spanish brava-style on offer.

Kids and community

At our dedicated kids area Malt Disney, we'll have entertainment from Spaghetti Circus and Shorty Brown the Clown, plus arts and craft and Sally the Face Painting Princess.

A family-friendly community event, last year Festival of the Stone raised $17,000 for our national not-for-profit the inGrained Foundation, who donated it to Northern Rivers-based Big Scrub Landcare.

This year, all event profits will again go to the inGrained Foundation for donation to local community welfare organisation, the Mullumbimby District Neighbourhood Centre.
