The vibes were at an all-time high at this year’s Festival Of The Stone. On Saturday 9 June, we opened our doors to celebrate a night of good beer, delicious food, rocking bands, and the tapping of our first 2018 Stone Beer keg. With $17,000 raised for Big Scrub Landcare via the Ingrained Foundation, the donation topped off an awesome event.
As sunshine dried out wet expectations, festival goers ditched their raincoats; with some pulling out their finest lycra, velvet, sequin and faux fur attire.
The dance floor was pumping from early afternoon with Loose Leaf, Tropical Zombie, Eliza & the Delusionals, Choir Boys and Last Dinosaurs rocking the Mash Tun stage, while our littlest dancers boogied to DJ Boom Bunny in the family friendly ‘Malt Disney’ zone.
As punters waited for the ceremonial tapping of Stone Beer, they freshened up with haircuts and beard trims from Flat Top Boogie and ate from the line-up of mouth-watering food trucks.
2018 Stone Beer was brewed eight weeks before the festival to honour the ancient techniques of brewing. We invited friends from around the country to join in the brewing process by heating stones on a wood fire and lowering them in the kettle to caramelise the brew. The process intensifies malt characters, while roasted caramel aromas balance the full-bodied cocoa flavour. Perfect for a cold winter’s night.
We were proud to donate all proceeds from beer to our recently established not-for-profit the Ingrained Foundation. A separate entity to Stone & Wood, we set it up to extend the work we have been doing since 2013 via our community.
The Foundation will donate the $17,000 raised to Big Scrub Landcare, who work to rejuvenate and protect the local Big Scrub rainforest.
As the village brewery we are so proud of Festival of the Stone’s ongoing success. The money raised has such a positive impact in our local community and being able to celebrate with the community over a Stone Beer is the perfect way to celebrate our seasonal release.
This year marks the final event in its current location. Next year we look forward to opening the doors of our new campus and celebrating the release of our 2019 Stone Beer in our new flagship spiritual home.
We'll see you all there next year!
