The saltiest time of the year rolls around again – across 20-24 February, you’ll see our beers and our crew supporting the Byron Bay Surf Festival 2019.
An annual celebration of surf culture, art and music that unites some of the country’s most passionate and experimental wave-riders, the Byron Bay Surf Festival (BBSF) captures exactly what we love about this region. As well as aligning with our ‘take things slow’ ethos, every year the BBSF contributes to the local arts scene and champions the spiritual, cultural and economic importance of our oceans.
Naturally, we’re proud to participate in this year’s BBSF and look forward to crossing paths with local and visiting surfers, artists, creatives, photographers and their friends and families throughout the weekend.
If you’re around next week, drop into our brewery after a surf for a beer and say hey – otherwise, grab a Pacific Ale from one of the events below where we will be pouring for you good people.
See you in the line up!
Where to catch us this year
On Wednesday 20 February, grab yourself a cold one and get cosy with surfing legend Tom Carroll at the Photo & Short Film Exhibition at the McTavish Factory in the Art and Industrial estate – here, we’ll have a pop-up Pacific Ale tinny bar (free; 6.00pm – 9.00pm).
The following night, Thursday 21 February, head down to the Photography Competition at the McTavish Outpost Store in town, where epic surf and ocean photography will set a salt-dreamy backdrop to the Pacific Ale tinnies we’re providing (free; 5.00pm – 7.00pm).
Off the back of a jam-packed Friday 22 February, be sure to catch the 2019 BBSF Art Show at Lone Goat Gallery with a cold Pacific Ale in hand, thanks to our pop-up bar inside the gallery (free; 5.30pm – 7.00pm). Afterwards, wander over to Denning Park in front of Main Beach for the Sunset Cinema & Opening Ceremony, where – beneath the soaring pines and untouchable arcs of salt spray – we’ll feature our own short film: Our Story (free; 6.30pm – 9.30pm)
As always, Stone & Wood brews will flow from the ice-cold taps at the Beach Hotel, which is hosting an epic line-up of local music, plus the Opening and Closing Ceremonies on Friday and Sunday night, respectively. We’re excited to take Clyde – our trusty Troupy – along to the Beachy again this year!
The team at the Byron Bay Community Centre will also be serving up Stone & Wood beers during the BBSF’s Surf Legends Lounge (ticketed; Friday 21 February 7.00pm – 9.00pm) and the Movies & Stories session (ticketed; Saturday 23 February 6.00pm – 9.00pm). All proceeds from beer sales go directly back to the Byron Bay Community Centre as part of our community program – cheers to that!
And of course, throughout the weekend, come and taste our beers or an experimental brew at our new Byron Bay brewery – a beautiful 1,160-metre-squared space complete with 31 brewing tanks, a canteen and three daily brewery tours. (100 Centennial Circuit, Byron Bay; (02) 6685 5173).
Before you whip your beach towel off the line and bundle a quiver into the car, remember to check out the full BBSF 2019 program here. Waves? Check. Music? Check. Beers? Check. We’ll see you there!
