About Our Murwillumbah
Brewery

SEE MORE ABOUT OUR GREEN FEET PROGRAM

Opened in 2014, our Murwillumbah Brewery is where we produce most of our beer and get it out to drinkers around the country.

Fitted with 400 solar panels and an ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis system for our wastewater, we’re constantly thinking about how we can make our Murwillumbah Brewery more sustainable.

We’re not perfect, but we are trying. And as we continue to grow, we remain committed to brewing with the highest quality ingredients available and improve on how we work with natural resources.

Please note our Murwillumbah brewery is not open to visitors.

Murbah Open Day

Held once a year, Murbah Open Day sees our Murwillumbah Brewery transform into an intimate, open-plan beer festival where profits from the day go towards supporting a local charity.

For a gold coin donation, we welcome in the local community to feast, drink and be merry as we fill the site with food trucks, pop up bars and a stage.

A family affair, it’s our favourite way of connecting with our neighbours and thanking them for their support.

sustainability

ufro

UF-RO: ULTRAFILTRATION AND REVERSE OSMOSIS.

Our UF-RO system removes all impurities from our wastewater stream to produce clean water, which we re-use in the brewery for cleaning and utilities. The water treated and produced by our UF-RO system is so clean that it’s safe to drink.

spent grain

Murwillumbah-based business, Coastal Feeds started out composting our organic brewing waste as a trial on the vacant block beside our Murwillumbah brewery. Today, they’re an entire composting and waste management business that we rely on to distribute our spent grain and organic brewing waste to local farms for both cattle feed and composting.

electricity

Our brewery roofs in Murwillumbah and Byron are fixed with a combined 517 solar panels, this generates enough to power over 15 households and helps us achieve our energy goals, keeping our electricity use below the industry standard*.

*Based off latest 2018 BA benchmark report and associated environmental metrics for a brewery of our size

Comparison against Additional benchmarks from 2021 Beverage Industry Environmental roundtable (BIER) for production volume <50M L  show positive performance above and beyond beverage industry standards for water and energy.
