Larrikin - "a mischievous young person, an uncultivated, rowdy but good-hearted person"
The Larrikin is the result of the blood, sweat and cheers of two knockabout blokes with a passion for good beer. When Laine's head brewer, Nic Donald (an Aussie) met with our man on the ground Pat Keeble, at Craft Beer Rising back in February - The pair were determined to make a beer together….a beer that showcased and embodied English and Australian flavours.
After a couple of months of throwing around ideas, different flavours and ingredient combinations, Nic and Pat finally found a winner. With the shared sense of irreverence between both countries and a cheeky nod to the English hop variety 'Jester' used in the beer, the brew was dubbed 'The Larrikin'. Kolsch was selected as the perfect style to promote the summery, tropical fruit notes of the hops, as well as being a lighter beer for the warmer days.
Finally, with the name in mind and the ingredients in hand, the two craftsmen hit the brew deck at People's Park Tavern with smiles on their faces. After a long day of brewing, laughter and a couple of beers, Pat and Nic's brainchild had taken shape...The Larrikin was born.
To celebrate the release of this collab brew, come and be a Larrikin this Saturday the 24th June for the launch at People’s Park Tavern. There will be giveaways, BBQ, music and the brewers will be on hand to talk all things beer.
